Client receives compensation for inadequate anaesthetic during C-section

Emma Williamson acted in the above matter in which our client received an epidural prior to commencement of a c-section. Our client expressed she could still feel pain however the Consultant proceeded with the incision. General anaesthetic was administered very quickly however our client was understandably very distressed by the incident and suffered from a psychological perspective for some time after the birth. Liability was admitted at an early stage and as actionable damage in cases of pain at c-section is psychiatric, a psychiatric report was obtained which evidenced a short adjustment disorder. A figure of £10,000 was agreed between the parties and our client was delighted with the outcome which provided an acknowledgement by the Trust of her ordeal. Our client was also informed the Trust carried out a quality improvement project which implemented a new anaesthetic chart for use for all anaesthetic procedures which shall undoubtedly improve patient safety in future.
