£225,000 Settlement for Delayed Cervical Cancer Diagnosis

Brendan Kearney & Company recently helped a woman who experienced a serious delay in the diagnosis of cervical cancer. The case was handled by our Partner, Eoin Kearney, and was successfully resolved against two Health Trusts in Northern Ireland.

Several of our client’s routine smear tests were incorrectly reported as normal, even though they showed abnormal changes. This meant the cancer was not detected early, when it was in a pre-cancerous stage, leading to more invasive treatment and long-term physical and emotional consequences.

Following careful investigation through the obtaining of expert medical reports, Eoin secured a £225,000 settlement for our client. The compensation will support her ongoing care needs and provides a sense of justice after a deeply distressing experience.

At Brendan Kearney & Company, we are committed to helping patients and families affected by medical negligence, holding healthcare providers accountable, and ensuring that those harmed receive the support and compensation they deserve.
